Sweet Junk Journal using the Cinch

Hello everyone! Kiki here with a quick little tutorial on how to make a junk journal, or art journal out of scraps of paper that you have in your stash.

Gather your supplies. You will need a Cinch, various papers, a binding wire, ribbon, punches.

Start by putting your papers together that you would like in the book, including things like doilies, punched papers, paper bags, etc. Then set your machine to the right size.

You'll see that I put some papers in between the paper bags.

I'm going to use a 3/4 inch binding wire due to the numbers of papers.

Now set your machine. It has a center marker for you to use as a guide. Pull out the ones you DON'T want to punch the paper.

I have cut my wire to the size I want, and am using 6 holes.

Punch all your papers. Then put all your papers onto your wire so it is ready to cinch together into a book.

You'll use the back of the machine to cinch your book.

First set the tension to the size of your wire.

Next put your "book" into the back of the machine, below the steel pusher. Most cinch wire has a flat side that you can put up against the back. I put mine in backwards for the photos, but it won't cause any harm.

Then push the arm down as if you are going to punch paper, and watch your binding wires come together.

The last thing I always do to my books is to put ribbon on the binding. I find it's pretty and makes a junk journal look junkier.

And there you have it! Your finished book. Be sure to leave us a comment if you enjoyed the tutorial and post pictures of your own junk journal.

Until next time!
